Happiness is an endowment and not an acquisition. it depends more upon temperament and disposition than environment.
—John J. Ingalls—
We carry in us the ingredient which assures smooth travels today, if that’s our choice. In our exchange with life, we can project an attitude of gladness or regret. We can
be grateful for our blessings or resentful that we have only what we have. We can offer love to our fellow travelers or harbor envy. However, when we choose to enter a situation, a discussion perhaps, offering loving acceptance of whatever we encounter, we’ll discover the prevailing inner happiness.
Becoming aware that the power to be happy is at our fingertips is profoundly exhilarating. At first it may also be frightening because we can no longer deny responsibility for our feelings. Every moment of our lives we are making a choice how to feel.
Emotional maturity follows on the coattails of responsible choice-making. Never again must I wait for another to make me happy. It’s in my power to be happy, today.
