Doubt indulged soon becomes doubt realized.
—Frances Ridley Havergal—
Self-confidence is not a given in our lives. It must be developed, often painstakingly, one task, one account, one deadline at a time. And each day that we court indecision and doubt, we erode not only this development in process but the level of self-confidence that had already been attained.
There is very little in our lives that we have full control over. We can affect the outcome of a situation. The dynamics of a relationship reflect our input. But in most instances of our lives, we offer only a contribution. We do not have the power to totally control the outcome. However, in one area we do have full power. That area is our attitude. And an attitude expressed on any occasion will profoundly affect the dynamics of the situation.
A confident posture in one instance makes easier the same posture in instances thereafter. Likewise, doubt breeds itself. The attitude we choose to express teaches others what to expect from us.
What posture will I assume today? The one I choose will directly affect all outcomes. I can move forward with assurance.
