Everything has its own perfection, be it higher or lower in the scale of things; and the perfection of one is not the perfection of another. —John Henry Newman—
There is no “perfection” in the world, yet in another sense, everything is perfect. Everything has its part to play in the world’s great unfolding.
Everything in our lives serves its purpose for us. Everyone we meet today will bear some message that we need to hear—just as we’ll bring messages to others. We’re all partners in this dance. Each move we make affects the whole pattern, and we respond to the changes made by one another.
Sometimes the message is a need for change. That message is perfect, too. At each moment we are where we need to be, and the path before us can be clear. If we don’t see it, it’s because we’ve chosen not to.
When we grasp the reality of choice and change, when we learn to live in the moment, we come to understand perfection not as a frozen, changeless state, but as a part of our perpetual becoming. May the next perfect moment carry us to ever more satisfying choices.
Today I’ll strive to clear my path and to appreciate the perfection of each moment that I choose.
